Describe an old building you have visited

The old building I remember best is the central post office in Ho Chi Minh City, which was completed in the late nineteenth century. From the outside it has a long yellow facade with arched windows and a big clock above the entrance; inside, the ceiling curves over the hall like a train station, with two rows of old wooden phone booths along the walls. What I love is that it isn't a museum — it's still a working post office, so you can genuinely send a postcard from a hundred-and-thirty-year-old counter. I first went there on a school trip and have taken every out-of-town friend there since. It sticks in my memory because it does something modern buildings rarely do: it makes you slow down. The proportions, the light, even the smell of old paper — everything belongs to a less hurried century, and for half an hour you get to borrow that pace.
