Trust in news has fallen for an uncomfortable reason: audiences discovered how the sausage is made. Once everyone could publish, everyone could also see newsrooms choosing angles, chasing clicks and correcting quietly. I don't think the answer is returning trust to a few big outlets; it's teaching people to read laterally — to check who is behind a story and who else is reporting it — the way fact-checkers do. As for whether bad news dominates too much, it clearly does, but not because journalists are cruel: danger has always been the information humans pay for first. The market simply serves our own alarm system back to us. That's why I deliberately follow a couple of slower, weekly sources — they report what mattered, not what just happened.
