Describe a book you enjoyed reading

I'll go with 'Norwegian Wood' by Haruki Murakami, which I read about three years ago, during a fairly rough patch when I'd just moved to a new city for work and didn't know anyone yet. It's about a university student in Tokyo in the late 1960s who's caught between two very different women while still processing the suicide of his closest friend a few years earlier — it sounds bleak written down like that, but the tone is actually quite gentle and melancholic rather than depressing. I picked it up almost by accident, honestly — a colleague left it on a shared bookshelf at the office and the cover caught my eye before I even knew who Murakami was. What made me genuinely enjoy it was how accurately it captured a particular kind of loneliness, the sort you feel even when you're surrounded by people, which happened to match exactly where I was in life at that point. There's a scene where the narrator just walks around the city for hours doing nothing in particular, and I remember thinking that's precisely what I'd been doing that month without being able to name it. It wasn't a book that resolved things neatly, which I appreciated — it let the sadness sit there instead of tying it up with a lesson. I ended up reading two more of his novels straight afterwards, which almost never happens with me.
