Describe a photo you like

The photo I want to describe is one on my phone of my mother in her kitchen, taken about four years ago. What's in it: she's mid-sentence, gesturing with a knife, clearly telling me off about something. There's a pot boiling over behind her that neither of us noticed at the time. It's not flattering and it's slightly out of focus. I took it myself, and badly, which is part of the point. I wasn't setting up a photo — I was holding my phone and pressed the button because she was being funny. Why do I like it? Because every other photo I have of her is posed. My mother is from a generation that treats a camera as formal, so the moment she sees one she stands straighter, stops talking and smiles in a way she never smiles otherwise. I have dozens of those. They all look like the same person and none of them looks like her. This one caught her actually talking, which is what she does more than anything else, and it caught the pot boiling over, which is also true of her kitchen. I nearly deleted it. It was in a batch of blurry ones I was clearing out, and I stopped because of the knife. Now it's the photo I'd keep if I could only keep one, and I don't think I could have planned that.
