Describe a person you know who would like to choose a career in the medical field

I'd like to talk about my younger sister Vy, who is seventeen, in her final year at a high school in Nam Dinh, and absolutely set on becoming a doctor. To be specific, she wants to be a paediatrician. The idea goes back to when she was nine and spent a week in the provincial hospital with dengue fever. There was a young doctor on the ward who drew a cartoon face on the back of her hand every morning, and Vy decided there and then that this was the job for her. It's a tough road, though. To get into Hanoi Medical University she needs something like twenty-eight out of thirty in the entrance exam, so she studies chemistry and biology until midnight and does practice papers on Sunday mornings. When our aunt warned her that the training takes forever, Vy just shrugged and said, "Six years, plus residency. I've done the maths." Do I think she's suited to it? Honestly, yes. For one thing, she isn't squeamish at all. When the boy next door fell off his bicycle and split his knee open, the adults were flapping around, and she was the one who calmly cleaned the wound and pressed a cloth on it until his mother arrived. She's also unusually patient with small children, who tend to adore her. My only worry is that she takes everything to heart, and I'm not sure how she'll cope the first time she can't save someone. But I'd rather have a doctor who cares too much than one who doesn't care at all. If she gets in next summer, I've promised to buy her first stethoscope.
