Clothes and fashion

Q: What kind of clothes do you usually wear? A: Mostly practical, slightly boring stuff, if I'm honest — jeans, plain shirts, the same three jackets on rotation. I work somewhere fairly casual, so there isn't much pressure to dress up, and I'd rather spend the time I'd need for that on basically anything else. Comfort wins over making a statement, pretty much every day. Q: Do you follow fashion? A: Not closely, no. I'll notice if something's clearly out of date, but I don't track trends or follow anyone for style inspiration. I think I stopped caring somewhere in my twenties, once I realised most people are far too busy with their own lives to actually register what I'm wearing. Q: How do you decide what to buy? A: Fit and durability, mostly — I've been burned too many times by things that looked good in the shop and fell apart after a few washes. I also try to buy less but better, which sounds like something off a poster but has genuinely saved me money over time. If it doesn't go with at least two or three things I already own, I generally won't get it. Q: Do you dress differently at work? A: A bit smarter, but not dramatically so — my workplace is fairly relaxed, so it's less about a strict dress code and more about an unspoken sense of what's appropriate. I'll swap the hoodie for a proper shirt on days I've got meetings, that kind of adjustment. Outside work, though, I go straight back to whatever's most comfortable.
