The person I enjoy working with most is a colleague called Trang, who I've been paired with on and off for about three years now on various marketing projects. What we actually work on together varies a lot — campaign planning mostly, sometimes just problem-solving when something's gone wrong with a client account — but the specifics matter less than how she operates, honestly. She's remarkably calm under the kind of pressure that makes most people, myself included, start cutting corners or panicking slightly; when a launch nearly fell apart two months ago, she was the one who just sat down and worked through it step by step while everyone else was reacting. She's also refreshingly direct — if she thinks an idea of mine isn't working, she'll say so immediately rather than let it drag on through three rounds of meetings, which I've come to appreciate a lot more than the alternative, even though it stung a little the first few times. I enjoy working with her mainly because there's very little wasted energy in it; we don't have to manage each other's egos or guess what the other person actually thinks, which, in my experience, is rarer than it should be in most workplaces. We've become genuinely good friends outside work as a result, though it started purely as a professional pairing that I don't think either of us chose deliberately at the time.
