Describe something you own that you would like to replace

I want to talk about my laptop, which I've had for about six years now and which has reached the point where I genuinely dread opening it for anything more demanding than checking email. I bought it back when I started my first job, and at the time it was perfectly adequate, but six years of updates and general wear have left it wheezing through tasks that should take seconds — it takes nearly two full minutes just to start up, and anything involving more than about four browser tabs tends to make the whole thing grind almost to a halt. What's actually wrong with it is a combination of things: the battery barely holds forty minutes of charge anymore, one of the hinges has started creaking alarmingly, and the fan makes a noise like it's personally offended whenever I open a video call. I've patched around these problems for longer than I probably should have, mostly out of a reluctance to spend the money, but I think I've finally reached the end of that patience. What I'd replace it with is something considerably lighter and quieter, ideally one of the newer machines with much better battery life, since most of my actual complaints trace back to age rather than anything I did wrong with it. I'm slightly sentimental about it, oddly, given how much frustration it's caused me — it's been with me through a lot — but sentimentality only gets you so far when a machine takes two minutes just to open a document.
