Describe a place near water that you like

I'm going to talk about a lake near the university I went to, which honestly wasn't anything special to look at but became important to me anyway. It's about a fifteen-minute walk from the main campus, so I'd usually just walk there, sometimes with a friend but more often on my own, especially during exam periods when I needed to get out of the library without actually going anywhere eventful. There wasn't much to do there in the conventional sense — I'd just sit on one of the benches, sometimes with a coffee, watching people jog past or feed the ducks, and occasionally I'd bring a book I had no real intention of reading. What draws me to places near water generally, and this lake specifically, is hard to fully explain, but I think it has to do with the fact that water is always doing something — rippling, catching light differently depending on the time of day — without demanding anything of you in return. It's activity without pressure, if that makes sense. Sitting by a screen all day makes you forget that things can just move quietly in the background, and being near the lake reminded me of that in a way that felt almost physical, like my shoulders would drop a couple of inches within about five minutes of sitting down. I still miss it, if I'm honest, more than I miss most things about that particular chapter of my life.
