Old buildings

My city still has a number of colonial-era buildings — the central post office and a few old markets — and I honestly find them more charming than the glass towers around them. Old buildings give a city its character; when every street looks the same, you could be anywhere in the world. I do think they should be preserved, though it's expensive, and the sensible compromise is to renovate the inside while keeping the facade. Last year I visited a hundred-year-old university building, and the details above the windows were finer than anything built today.
