Jokes and comedies

I'm a terrible joke-teller — I always give away the punchline too early — but I love watching people who can do it well. My taste runs to dry, understated humour rather than slapstick; stand-up comedy is my go-to when I want to switch off. Comedy travels badly, though. A lot of what my friends find hilarious is wordplay in Vietnamese that simply doesn't survive translation, and the reverse is true of British sitcoms, where half the joke is the tone of voice. When something does make me properly laugh, I'll send it to five people within a minute.
