English is still the giant; there seems to be a language centre on every other street, and IELTS preparation alone is practically an industry. Beyond that, practical skills courses have boomed, things like data analysis, digital marketing, baking and even how to sell on livestream. What they have in common is a clear link to earning money. People choose short courses over degrees largely for that reason. A degree takes four years and teaches a good deal you may never use, whereas a three-month course targets one skill and lets you test it in the job market straight away. It's also a far smaller gamble: if the course turns out to be useless, you've lost a few million dong rather than your early twenties. Still, I wouldn't write off degrees. Short courses teach you how to do something, but rarely why it works, and that deeper grounding is what allows an engineer or a doctor to cope when the tools change. A certificate in a weekend can't replace it. As for online learning, I think it will take over the lecture but not the classroom. Listening to an explanation works perfectly well on a screen, and you can replay the difficult part. What suffers is everything else: being corrected on the spot, arguing with classmates, and the mild embarrassment that makes you do the homework. So my guess is a blend, with theory at home and practice face to face.
