A computer, if I can only pick one. I'm a final-year accounting student, and trying to handle a spreadsheet with two hundred rows on a tablet is my idea of torture; you need a proper keyboard and a big screen for that. So my laptop comes out for anything serious, like assignments, my part-time data entry job, or filling in online forms. The tablet actually belongs to my younger sister, and I only borrow it for lazy things, like watching cooking videos while I eat, or reading in bed, because it's light enough not to hurt when I drop it on my face. My first computer experience was in grade six, in the school lab. The machines were ancient and took about ten minutes to start up, and we spent whole lessons drawing wonky houses in Paint, which felt like magic at the time. As for the future, I doubt tablets will take over completely. They keep getting more powerful, sure, but people who write, code or crunch numbers for a living will hang on to their keyboards for a long while yet.
