Describe a person whose job you would like to have

The person I'd pick is a wildlife documentary cameraman I actually met briefly at a talk he gave at my university a few years ago, a man named David who's spent most of his career filming for nature series in places like Borneo and the Amazon. His job, from what he described, involves an enormous amount of waiting — weeks at a time in a hide or a boat, sometimes for a single shot of an animal doing something specific, with no guarantee it'll actually happen on schedule, which sounds, frankly, like it would test anyone's patience. He got into it almost by accident, apparently, starting as an unpaid assistant carrying equipment for a small production company because he couldn't get any other job after graduating, and just never left the industry after that. I'd like that job mainly because of how directly it seems to connect the work itself to something you actually care about — he talked about the boredom and physical discomfort of it quite honestly, but also about moments that clearly still affected him years later, describing one particular encounter with an orangutan with more emotion than I've heard most people describe their own achievements. Most jobs I've had feel one step removed from anything that matters to me personally; his sounded uncomfortable in a lot of ways, but never like that particular kind of removal, and that's the part I found myself genuinely envying.
