Describe a place you would like to live in

If I could live anywhere, it would probably be a small coastal town somewhere like the south of Portugal — I've never actually been, which I realise makes this a slightly odd answer, but I've done an unreasonable amount of reading about the area over the past year or so. From what I've gathered, it's known for whitewashed houses, cliffs overlooking the Atlantic, and a pace of life that's noticeably slower than anywhere I've lived so far — shops closing for a few hours in the afternoon, that sort of thing. What it would actually be like, I imagine, is a mix of quite isolating at first, since I don't speak the language, and eventually quite grounding, in the way that a genuinely unfamiliar place forces you to rebuild your routines from nothing rather than defaulting to old habits. I picture mornings spent near the water, working from somewhere with decent wifi and a view, and evenings that are much less scheduled than they are now. The reason I'd want to live there, if I'm honest, isn't really about Portugal specifically — it's more that I've reached a point where the city I'm in feels a bit too automatic, too easy to move through without noticing anything, and I think somewhere unfamiliar would force a kind of attentiveness back into daily life that's gradually worn off over the years.
